Researchers at Northwestern University and recently joining the Institute for Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo developed a method to evaluate the folding stability of a million proteins simultaneously. DNA libraries were used to generate protein-DNA complexes that were treated with enzymes to destroy unfolded proteins. The intact proteins were identified by DNA sequencing. This system can describe the factors that keep protein structure and advance our understanding of diseases involving protein misfolding.
