By the end of March, 2001 we had completed the transfer of the IIS facilities from Roppongi in Tokyo to Komaba; the current campus is divided into two sections: one in Komaba, Tokyo and the other in the Kashiwa district of Kashiwa City, Chiba Prefecture. The Komaba Campus is home to the Research Departments and the Administration Departments of the IIS, along with the affiliated research centers and Central Workshop and Electronic Computer Center, which are shared service facilities; while the Large-scale Experiment and Advanced-analysis Platform affiliated research facilities for large-scale research are found at Kashiwa.
