Researchers from the Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo, have resolved a problem that has limited practical applications of transmitting quantum information. By coupling a few-electron quantum dot with a terahertz split-ring resonator, they have achieved the same coupling strength that was previously seen only in many-electron systems. This work is an important advance in the fundamental physics of light-electron coupled states that will benefit quantum computing technology.
