Web Magazine "Possible Future: Case #UTokyo-IIS" is now available online.
This web magazine introduces the various "possible futures" originating from UTokyo-IIS.

In June 2026, we interviewed Associate Professor Naoya Kanazawa and Professor Hiroshi Toshiyoshi of the Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo, and published articles introducing their respective research in August and September. In this article, we bring you the conversation between the two researchers that took place at that time. While Kanazawa studies how controlling electrons can unlock new properties in materials, Toshiyoshi creates ultra-small machines known as micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) and develops a broad range of devices. After discussing their respective research, the conversation turned to how they engage with AI. What does it mean for humans to "enjoy research"?
