Professor Yasuhiko Arakawa has been elected as a Foreign Member of the US National Academy of Engineering (NAE)

Professor Yasuhiko Arakawa has been elected as a Foreign Member of the US National Academy of Engineering (NAE) for contributions to quantum dot lasers and related nanophotonic devices.

NAE, together with the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) and the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), constitutes the Academies of the United States of America. NAE elects engineers who have made remarkable achievements as a Member, and being elected as a Member is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer (A list of Japanese Members). The formal induction ceremony will be held on October 8, 2017 in Washington, DC.
