Since the beginning of the 21st century, Asian developing countries represented by China and India witness a period of great transformation from urban sprawl to compact urban development. In order to reduce urban energy consumption and air pollution, enhance urban competitiveness, and maintain the balanced development of society, the "Transit-oriented Development (TOD)" model has become the first development choice for many cities in Asian countries. It is foreseeable that in the next 20-30 years, these Asian cities will enter the era of rail transit from the era of roads.

Combining the current research results in the TOD field, this research department will explore the TOD planning, design and development model suitable for the high-density Asian cities.
