About Alumni KU Leuven International ....

The aim of establishing groups of Alumni Leuven families in various countries or cities around the world is to provide the opportunity for the development of links, exchanges, and friendships between fellow alumni worldwide with close ties to the Alma Mater in Belgium.

Common interests and goals in Alumni activities should overcome the distance factor, however great, and overcome the barriers that often come with distances. National and international opportunities to meet with other people will add another great dimension for developing new friendships which will become important contacts and colleagues in professional lives.

Where there is a group of Leuven or Belgium Alumni, be it in a country, or province, or city level (with possible links with the local Belgian Embassy), we would appreciate having local Contact Person throughout the world, who can inform us about dates & sites of notable events and activities involving Leuven/Belgium Alumni in your region, such as Alumni members gathering, Meetings with other groups, Famili Outings, and other social and professional events taking place in your areas.

This will enable Alumni Lovanienses in Leuven to circulate such information within our university circles for use by our alumni members and university staff, who happen to be in your area at the appropriate time, to possibly participate in any or your local group activities.

In the last issue, we reported an exciting and unqualified success of Alumni Gathering in Jakarta (in Sahid Jaya Hotel, on November 18, 1990, a get together between some 85 alumni and their spouses from Alumni Lovanienses under our former chairman, R.M. Brams, and some 200 Belgian/Leuven Alumni families from Jakarta and other places in Indonesia, with participation of the Belgian Embassy in Jakarta, which was a great opportunity to see old friends (even between fellow alumni from 30 years ago -- as early as the 60's) and to meet new ones in the true spirit of International Alumni.

Such organized encounters between the alumni families in the various countries of our global village create potentiality for a great networking opportunity, which with time make establishment of close links within the worldwide Leuven Alumni network possible.

During the academic year 1990-1991, more than 1600 students from 85 nationalities studied in Leuven. With the start of the new academic year 1991-1992, we would like to ask the new Alumni members graduating from our university, to fill in the Alumni Record Form to be included in the Alumni Directory for the various countries worldwide.

Finally, we thank the International Alumni members for sending in their filled record forms and would further encourage other fellow alumni in your region to send their data forms, which can also be filled in by their friends currently studying in Leuven.
