IIS is actively collaborating with industries. IIS has many collaborative research contracts and entrusted research contracts with private companies, accepting researchers and engineers as commissioned researchers from private and public sectors and offering educational opportunities to research students. IIS is also utilizing donations and research funds from private and public sectors to arrange Social Cooperation Programs and Corporate Sponsored Research Programs. To advance these activities, IIS opens its laboratories to the public once a year on the days of UTokyo Komaba Research Campus Open House, offering visitors the chance to see the research activities in IIS. IIS always welcomes laboratory visits and proposals of donations. IIS also operates a career development support program for corporate engineers: The New Expertise Training (NExT) Program. The NExT Program offers its participants educational support to gain insight into state-of-the art technologies and to conduct research on the seeds of emerging technologies in diverse fields.
